University of Maryland Hearing and Speech Sciences PhD student Anhelina Bilokon was featured by the Acoustical Society of America for research exploring how hormones and biological sex influence hearing and auditory processing across the lifespan.

Presented at the 190th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, the work examines how hormonal changes may affect hearing sensitivity and auditory processing over time, including fluctuations associated with menstruation and menopause. The research also highlights the importance of considering sex differences more intentionally in hearing science and clinical research.

“This work is about improving how we understand hearing for everyone,” Bilokon said in the featured release.
