Former trainee Grace Capshaw successfully defends her PhD.

The title of Grace's dissertation is Extratympanic hearing in salamanders: a comparative assessment of structural variation and terrestrial function of an atympanic ear. Her advisor was Catherine Carr. Grace has started her postdoctoral work in laboratories of Dr. Cindy Moss and Dr. Amanda Lauer, at Johns Hopkins.

Grace has also received the 2021 BEES Research Award. During her time at the University of Maryland Grace's research has been impressive and prolific. She has authored numerous papers, participated extensively in both international and national conferences, and received impressive amounts in grants and funding. Grace's research is distinguished by her extensive collaborative work and commitment to mentorship and research training.
